Born in La Paz, Bolivia, Roberto Valcarcel studied Visual Communication and Architecture in Germany. He is probably among the Bolivian contemporary artists with the greatest international projection in the last decades.
He has exhibited his work in North and South America as well as in Europe and has participated in many of the most important international biennales. He has received numerous prizes for his drawings, paintings, conceptual works and non-traditional media. He currently lives in Santa Cruz, Bolivia.
Valcarcel has held more than thirty solo exhibitions, among which are included Pulchri Studio (Den Haag, The Netherlands 2005), The National Museum of Art in La Paz, The Contemporary Art Museum in Santa Cruz de la Sierra and renowned galleries as the BHN Foundation, EMUSA Gallery, EsArt and Nota in La Paz as well as Oxigeno Fine Arts in Santa Cruz.
